Run and fight as a titan

Titan Rush is a free running game from TapNation. This casual arcade game draws inspiration from the hit manga and anime series Attack on Titan (AoT), putting you in the shoes of the titular giant as you run through levels, fight other titans, and break walls to uncover what’s next. Fans of the hit franchise, casual running games, or both will definitely enjoy this game.

Although it is AoT-themed, regular mobile players will find similarities as it falls into a subgenre of running games. Titan Rush shares a lot of visual and mechanics-related similarities with games like Princess Run 3D.

Great for kids and anime fans

The first thing you’d find with Titan Rush is its use of bright colors. Kids unaware of the lore surrounding AoT would immediately love the color palette used as well as the design choices. Essentially, it sticks to light and solid colors, such as blue water, gray walls, and flesh-colored roads. This type of visual is retained all throughout the game, making you lose track of the time.

As for the game itself, as mentioned, experienced players might immediately find similarities between this and other running games. It has the same mechanics of running a path, collecting powerups, avoiding obstacles, and fighting a boss at the end. Although the choice of aesthetics help make it inviting, the lack of gameplay originality means it loses appeal after a few minutes.

For fans of the franchise, the lack of other playable titans might be a dealbreaker. Also, as is the case with most free mobile games, ads remain intrusive and counterproductive in this case since they appear too frequently. It also uses those full-screen ads that you can’t skip for a couple of seconds. When you do get the opportunity, it usually comes in the form of very small X buttons.

A fair way of passing the time

So far, Titan Rush meets most expectations for a casual game intended to help pass the time for a wide range of players. It uses child-friendly design choices and a tried-and-tested although unoriginal gameplay formula. However, it suffers from common faults that make it appear like a cash grab instead of a game that could keep players enjoying and invested.

  • Pros

    • Kid-friendly visual choices
  • Cons

    • Unoriginal gameplay concept
    • Lack of playable characters
